| Homeward Bound in the HeartIand was formed in 2009. We are a smaII group of rescuers in the Omaha area. SpeciaI peopIe voIunteer to show their Iove and dedication in heIping these animaIs. Our animaIs find temporary Ioving home with our foster parents, whiIe awaiting for furever famiIies. We rescue animaIs that have found themseIves in difficuIt situations by no fauIt of their own. HeaIth,age or breed does not matter to us. We don't discriminate. We raise pubIic awareness through community education of the homeIess animaIs and the benefits of adopting an animaI in need. Our rescued animaIs are examined, vaccinated and spayed/neutered before they are pIaced in carefuIIy screened homes. |

Bella, is looking for her furrever home. She is now about 3 or 4 yrs old. in excellent health and updated on all her vaccinations. she spent the first two years of her life outside, she is still fairly shy, but has made significant progress in cuddling the past year. She loves to curl up with us on the bed and has learned that having people to pet her is pretty nice. She loves to be played with and is full of energy. She still doesn't care an awful lot to be picked up and carried, but will come to you for love when she's ready for it. She would really do best in a home without other cats. She grew up as an outdoor stray the first two years of her life, and she learned to protect herself from some neighborhood bullies (Tom cats) by having safe hideouts and being quick to get away when she felt too vulnerable. Since she's been with us, however, she has steadily grown more secure and trusting. She will seek out affection when she wants it, loves to curl up in a sunny spot with a blanket, bird-watch from the windows, and snuggle with her people at bedtime. She's very playful--loves to chase toy mice and lasers, and to go crazy with ribbon wands. She does fine with another cat, though she really likes having her own litter box and access to a safe haven if she feels she needs one. She's an introvert and prefers things small and intimate. She would thrive in a generally quiet, laid-back home with maybe only one other female kitty for company. PLEASE help me find a home for this 4 year old male kitty, Tootsie. He is neutered and is up to date on shots. He is very, very smart and plays fetch and knows some commands. He is house trained. Tootsie is very gentle and loving but also loves to play. His owners are moving and cannot take him with them and they don't want to take him to a shelter and risk him being put down.
